My Favourite Runs of 2025

2025 has been a huge year for BotK speedrunning, with the release of the Switch 2 having a massive impact particularly on the Breath of the Wild scene. It's brought back beloved old routes and created many new and exciting ones! But the Switch 2 wasn't needed for every new development, as the community, as always, innovated at every opportunity which allowed for many new milestones to be reached across many categories, old and new.

This year was also the year I decided to launch this blog to celebrate and try to publicise every world record that gets achieved and it's been throughly enjoyable and rewarding. Just knowing that even one person takes something away from the publication makes all of this more than worth it. I really look forward to what 2026 brings, both personally within the speedrunning scene and what magic other runners bring to the table, because it feels like nowadays anything really is possible (except plat skip).

It's easy to take the people around us for granted but I am forever grateful for all the incredible and lovely people I get to surround myself with. Through everything I've gone through personally in this honestly godawful year, knowing I can always fall back to the digital refuge of the communities I've come to make home over the last 5 years make perservering through it all all the while worth it.

With all that sentimental spiel over, I decided to do something very original and create a list of my favourite runs of this year, one for each month. I tried to keep the list diverse and base the selection of runs off of whether they were special milestones, impressive, entertaining, notable in some way or if I just really liked them.
